I wouldn't think that "Measure for Measure" would increase the likelihood of getting a rare material, just increase the number of units of material (common or rare, depends on chance), which is how "Highly Salvageable" works.

It was a staff i got In the Relm of Torment, If i foind another I will post name.

I think its good. Helps if you're looking to get lots of a certain material, for example; I'm looking for steel, so I'll pull a 'highly salvagable' off a bow and stick it on an axe.

Not so sure about the 'precious' one. I assume the inscription increased the amount the item is worth, yes? If I pull it off one weapon and stick it on another, will the amount of money added on due to the Inscription change? If yes, then thumbs up, as you can pull it off a rubbish purple and chuck in on a rubbish gold and get money. If it just adds the same amount to the weapon, then there ain't much point.

There is also a bow in NF (the name of which escapes me, bladed bow possibly) that I salvaged into iron when using a standard kit, so I'm guessing that it could salvage to steel too.

It sure would be nice to have some inscription traders in Nightfall towns, where we can sell inscriptions to for a better value than the base 25 gold for everything. Some inscriptions are more valuable than others and having a trader for them would help clear out some of these almost good ones that aren't worth the time trying to sell in trade chat, but aren't bad enough that you feel good about throwing them away for 25 gold at the regular merchant. They might be valuable to some lower levels or for people's heros, etc.

Even if they have been altered, I still think the new inscriptions are "just as useful" in terms of their potential monetary/salvage value.
Actually the evidence is in the math. If you had a 1 in 10 chance of getting a 15^50 mod (I know thats not the correct statistic its an example) before the update you would now have a 1 in 12 chance of getting it now because you have introduced 2 more mods into the pool. Its sorta like rolling a die, the higher the number of sides statisitcally the lower your chances are of coming up with the number you want (over a period of time).

This is a great update
This isn't a nerf but people are "afraid" of expert salvaging an inscription then open more highend chests or id more golds so you'll have a higher chance of not destroying an item or add another inscription on top of the inscription that was there and *boom* problem solved.

These new inscriptions are better than those unwanted dmg inscriptions like 20% dmg while health is less than 50%.

Dont be such a spoil sport, i have seen both sides reading to the bottom here and i have never recieved a perfect inscription on a weapon so i think that instead of those non perfect mods these mods are much more desirable because they can be used in different ways. It sucks having a one of these mods on a gold weapon you want to use, but since when do you find a weapon with all the perfect mods? i know it barely ever happens to me so I actually prefer getting the precious mod on a gold weapon so i can get 500g instead of whatever it would have normally been.

so rethink and dont be so closed minded. Altough it may lower the chance of getting a perfect inscription i welcome it for those people who want to make easy money or know how to get better materials from certain weapons.

can this actually happen or not? if so, this is a good addition. but if not, this is just another poor worthless addition to the game.

Read the ideas in this thread. Some of you "get it," and can see the value of these cool new inscriptions (and their parallel in the other regions). Good job on figuring it out. And thank you for gently showing the truth to the "nerf-sayers!"
well stop nerfing the damn game then and you wouldn't hear it as much LOL, seriously Gaile think before you put fingertips to keys.
This is a lighthearted post not an attack but with all due respect you have nerfed GW in general quite alot, still cant see why the spirit bond build had to be nerfed so it could make peeps a few plat to buy stuff, thats where i despair about ANET.

Like the new inscriptions though!

Personally i think the whole Attitude of most of the spoiled little brats in the game is wrong. Life isn't perfect. Life is a challenge, that is what makes it Fun!

Personally i think these new inscriptions are awesome! I have seen "Show Me The Money" increase an items value as much as 6X the original value !!!

I get really tired of people complaining and screaming because they got 1 little spot of mud and blood on their nice new white armor so to speak. GROW UP !!!!

Gaile, is there any way you could impose some kind of IQ requirement on the game *Wicked Grin* I Know I Know it is a rediculous idea.....but man would it be AWESOME to get rid of all the Crybabies who lay on the ground moaning and groaning about how life isn't fair!

Holy crap....as long as you don't destroy the weapon, you can really make a material factory with that inscription.

It is possible that Anet changed the drop rate of all inscriptions to keep the total number of 15^50 drops the same as before. Perhaps there are simply more inscribed items dropping now overall to achieve this. But I doubt anyone collected enough data before the update to compare with the current build.

Except that in order to get the material out of it, you have to salvage for the material with the inscription on it, which destroys the weapon and inscription.

Not necessarily. You are assuming that they did not adjust the probabilities to compensate for this. It's entirely possible that the 2 new mods are replacing a range of probability where you wouldn't have got a mod at all before. We just don't know.

That's awesome I was hoping that would happen, to help make finding jewels a bit easier. I'm saving my Measure for Measures for just such occasions from now on.
